Data isn’t necessarily dominating every corner of the automotive conversation like AI is, but it’s finding its way back into the spotlight. And walking around
ASOTU CON this year, I could feel that shift.
The variety of sessions, panels, and live podcasts featuring industry leaders made the event a perfect place to catch up on the latest innovations and strategies shaping winning dealerships. With this year’s theme centered around the “Year of the Human,” many conversations focused less on technology itself and more on the people behind it — where they came from, how they found success, and where we in the industry should go from here.
And that was refreshing.
Still, there was plenty of discussion around the tools helping dealerships operate more effectively, and that’s where I kept hearing similar themes repeated over the course of the event:
Maybe those ideas sound familiar.
Back in late 2024, we introduced
Curator, the industry’s first Unified Intelligence Engine, built around a simple promise:
Clean, Unified, and Actionable Data.
What was futuristic then, feels expected now. And that’s a really good sign for dealerships.
Because as these themes mature, AI conversations are moving beyond the flashiness and buzz words. Smarter questions are being asked:
-
“How does this actually help dealership employees perform better?”
-
“How does this increase our efficiency across the dealership?”
-
“Can we trust the data feeding the AI?”
The last question came up more than a few times. AI NEEDS context.
Being able to trust your data, feed it into your AI solutions, and deliver actionable insights to your team results in an ideal experience for both employees and customers.
It’s impressive how fast AI can generate polished reports, identify real-time trends, and personalize every customer communication. But without a foundation that includes connected systems, reliable data, and human oversight, impressive doesn’t always mean useful.
To me, the renewed focus on data signals something important: accountability. How well does your AI integrate with your data? And the answer to that may end up being the biggest differentiator moving forward.
